The Third Eye Wellness Center: Afternoon of Spiritual Nutrition Starting with Chakra

Life has always been an endless journey of learning.  I've always been curious about myself and everything else around me.  Although I don't fully understand what spirituality is, I've always felt that it is essential to my well-being.  Thus, when I was invited for a talk at Third Eye Wellness Center, I was more than eager to participate.

Sure, I've heard about Chakra before but don't really know what it is.  I got to know that Chakra is the source of energy so you'd be amazed the issue of a person is related to his disease.  The physical is the last manifestation of our emotional problems like how a person with low self-esteem is often inflicted with ulcer.

The 7 Primary Chakras
  • Crown Chakra (white) = I understand - located at the top of the head and represents unity and spirituality.  This is our connection to the divine.  It requires the other chakras to be balanced and cleansing the body through detox, yogas, exposure to good sunlight, moonlight and fresh air.
  • Third Eye or Brow Chakra (Purple) = I see - located between the eyebrows and represents intuition, direction and inspiration.   This involves our perception, direction, inspiration, intellectual physique and intuition.
  • Throat Chakra (blue) = I speak - located at the base of the throat.  This represents expression, communication and self-esteem.
  • Heart Chakra (green but can turn red in the center) = I love - located at the center of the chest.  It represents love, acceptance and forgiveness.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra (yellow) = I do - located on the abdomen.  It represents control and power.
  • Sacral Chakra (orange) = I feel -  located between the naval and the pubic bone which is 3 fingers below the belly.  It represents emotions, sex, creativity, abundance and intimacy.
  • Root Chakra (red) = I am - located at the base of the spine.  It represents survival, security, stability and grounding.
You Are What You Eat

Depending on the Chakra (except for Crown Chakra) that you want to balance, there are suggested foods for them.  Thus, we should strive for conscious eating and make healthy food choices.

I sure you've come across the current issue on GMO's and how its destroying our environment.  As an advocate of natural and organic produce, I am totally against it.  As stated by Ms. Angela Lichiuco of Rawlicious, there are just so much benefits from:
  • Living Foods such as enyzmes, vitamins, minerals, fiber, oxygen and high energy and positive vibrations
  • Plant-based diet such as alkaline, non-fat and easier to digest
  • Organics such as higher nutrition, free of harmful chemicals and healthy for the planet
  • Greens such as enriched with chlorophyll, cell renewal, reduce free radicals, vitamins, minerals, protein, fibers and oxygen

As a foodie, I'll admit that when I review food, I usually critic based on the taste and appearance but often forget that the main purpose of food is to fuel the body.  Through our food intake, we can control our health.  Our relationship should be beyond its taste.  It should be how it nourishes, heals and balances our body, mind and spirit.

Co-owner Maisha Chulani advises that we should adopt the four practices of conscious eating:
  1. Eating food that is real, natural, pure, fresh and organic
  2. Consuming more living foods (raw and uncooked items) and whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, greens and legumes and grains
  3. Avoiding meat, processed food, preserved food, fast food, artificial seasoning, sodas and sugar.
  4. Giving thanks by blessing one's food.

My Personal Account
I've been stressed for the past few years due to my failed relationship.  I just lost my best friend for 10 years and lover of 5 years.  I felt as if all optimism has been drained out from me.  It affected my life plan and my schooling.  To cope with the stress, I ate a pint of ice cream and a pack of pop corn almost everyday.   I got sick often and had back aches too.

One day, I met with an old friend.  I was amazed at how positive and happy he had been.  He was so cranky at me before! =(  Then, he told me his secret is a healthy diet.  Being as skeptic as I am, I teased him that it was just a psychological effect or something.   But it really made me curious so I kept bugging him with questions to which he replied either with patience or frustration. =p   From then on, he became my personal health coach.  Although I'm still not considered a conscious eater like him, I'm pleased to boast that as a semi-conscious eater for just a few months, I have lost a lot of pounds and have never felt more positive and happy in my life.  I'm not saying that external factors did not help me.  I'm very fortunate to have a supportive family and optimistic friends as well.  But, the biggest change lies within us and that it begins with conscious and healthy eating.

Prior to the talk at the The Third Eye Wellness Center, my friend's advises were actually based on scientific studies and researches.  I'm glad to learn that the spiritual side and science coincides after all.  I guess everything in the universe are really intertwined.  My learning about spiritual nutrition made me want to learn more about my spirituality.  It was mentioned that the Charka of a person can be measured by a pendulum.  The Third Eye Wellness Center offers a Chakra Balancing Session for that.  I'll try that soon because it intrigues me!

Superman, also known as the man of steel, is one of the most famous superhero in the world.  His title as the man of steel describes only one of the many superpowers that he possess, Invulnerability.  Superman also has an assortment of other abilities:

1.  Super Speed
2.  Super Hearing
3.  Heat Vision
4.  Freezing Breath
5.  Flight
6.  Regeneration
7.  Super Intelligence

Those are a lot of superpowers for just one superhero to carry.  But one must wonder what they could do with all of superman’s powers.  If I had his powers, I would be able to change the world.  If I had his power for a week, I would follow this seven day plan:

Day 1: Use Super Speed and Super Intelligence to study everything I can.
Day 2: Disarm all weapons of mass destruction around the world.
Day 3: Disarm all remaining weapons around the world.
Day 4: Cleanup all landfills and dumps around the world.
Day 5: Continue cleanup of garbage around the world.
Day 6: Using knowledge gained from Day 1 and Super Intelligence to solve world hunger
Day 7: Using knowledge gained from Day 1 and Super Intelligence to cure cancer

The key to this change the world strategy is Super Speed and Flight.  Anyway, that is my plan for changing the world with the powers of the Man of Steel within a week.  The potentials for his powers are limited only by the imagination, or at least by the limitations set about by story authors.

Randell Tiongson's i-Con 2013: The No Nonsense Investments Conference

You've read my previous posts where I worry about my financial stability.  I know a lot of us are on the same predicament.  But, truth be told, we need to ACT fast.  Everything around as is constantly moving and changing and we're also aging.

Recently, I came across Randell Tiongson's i-Con 2013: The No Nonsense Investments Conference.  I think it is the first step to an awareness with personal finance.  I've attended Randell Tiongson's short lecture before and the same goes for Chingkee Tan.  And, this time I want to broaden my knowledge.  This is a wholesome seminar because it covers Personal Finance by Randel Tiongson, Entrepreneurship by Chinkee Tan, Money Values by Dennis Sy, Investment Planning by Efren L. Cruz and Stock Market Investing by Marvin Germo.  I'm especially interested on the last past because the Philippine Stock Market is currently upward trending compared to other countries.

The event will be held on June 22, 2013 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at SMX at Mall of Asia.  Grab this chance and register with me by emailing or inquiring at icon2013@ephesians.ph

SM Aura Premier: Checking Out What's Partially Completed

Everyone is curious about the new SM Aura Premier which just had a grand opening with Sarah Jessica Parker.  Last weekend, the family decided to join the hype and went to check it out.

SM Aura Premier can easily be sighted from Market Market and Serendra.  Upon reaching the mall, we could see a lot of pedestrians crossing to and from it.  We entered the paid parking and spent nearly two hours just to find a vacant slot.  But, of course, we didn't let that diminish our excitement.

From the exterior facade of the mall, it looks long and wide.  But, once we entered we found it to be quite limited in space and narrow.  Some of the shops and all of the restaurants are still closed.  Most shops are clothing lines.  Uniqlo and Forever 21 occupies two floors.  There is a Sky Garden on top with fountains which are not yet functional.

Every one had no other choice but to eat at the food court on Food on Four which is beside the Cinema Theaters.  Good thing Brasas and Pepper Lunch was open.  We chose to dine at Brasas spending an hour to line up and only to find out that only three items were available.  We also dropped by Mother's Crepe to buy our favorite Jasmine Green Tea.   Overall, it was a day of patience and waiting and perhaps an unrewarded excitement.  If you havn't visited yet, I suggest you wait till everything is complete.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party and Behind the Doors of Chateau Book Launch

Last Saturday, I got an invite to celebrate Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary and Behind the Doors of Chateau Book Launch.  Being such a great fan of the 1771 Group, I just couldn't say no.  You could check my review on their Sentro 1771 and Wine Bar 1771 if you wish.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
The party was held at Ayala Museum.  It was a first visit for me.  As expected, the 1771 Group sure knows how to throw a party.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
A short presentation of testimonials and documentation about pioneers Ricky and Vicky were shown.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
Then, the book Behind the Doors of Chateau was presented.  The first publication is limited to only 1,000 copies and I'm one of the lucky ones to grab one.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
I also got to have them authographed by Vicky herself.  I'm so happy! =) The book is really nice.  It is a 224-page full colored book.  I've already read through half of it and found it really engaging.  It literally transports me behind the doors of Chateau and into the kitchen which I've never been to before.  When I dine at the 1771 Group of Restaurants, I see perfection.  But, little did I know that each dish holds a long story which we could only find out by reading the book.

My mom is very pleased with the recipes on the end part of the book.  I simply can't help but drool over the photos and certainly can't wait for my mom to try to make them.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
The party was overflowing with fine wines, frutis and cheese.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
There was a wide spread of buffet from appetizers to dessert.

This is my appetizer plate which I ate with delight.

Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party
Here's my main entree.

And, of course, my chocolatey dessert plate.

Overall, it was a successful Chateau 1771's 25th Anniversary Party and Behind the Doors of Chateau Book Launch.  I wish them well and look forward to their upcoming expansions and success.

Truth be told I have not written anything on this blog for quite some time now.   For the past few months, this seemed to me like an blank piece of paper which I stare at but can't begin to write on.  I really don't know what or how to start with this again.

When we were fifteen, Kurt and I used to have so many dreams, energy and positivity towards life.  There's just so many things to share and look forward to.

Five years later, perhaps, reality, time or age has caused us to change.  But, believing in hope, we begun this blog with enthusiasm to document and share the things we found interesting in life.  It started with much enthusiasm as we found it to be something we have in common.  Because, we've really grown apart.  I've held on to the goals we've always talked about since we were teens and he can't decided on what he wants in life.  Like many things we've tried out, he found out that blogging is also not for him in just a few months.  But, it didn't stop there.  He always told me that if I motivate him enough, he might start to move again so I kept writing.   I had a lot of fun learning and writing.  It was an endless exploration and adventure for me until I lost it...  Many things have happened that confused me and it took a lot of time before I began to sort things out.  And, I still continue to.

I'm very grateful to Kurt who has been my first partner in this blog and many other things which he never really wanted to do and found weird, crazy and stupid but did so because of me.  If not for him, I may not have had the courage to start things on my own.  Although he will not be writing here anymore, I'd like to take it from here.  Like me, this blog has had a major identity crisis.   But, I hope to get started writing again.  Reaching the quarter life has caused me to re-evaluate my life.   Looking back, I've been changing to-and-fro, wanting and waning, it's actually frustrating to see myself as I reflect upon things.   I'm thankful to my family and friends who has always been there believing and motivating me to continue moving on forward.   For now, I'm geared toward self-improvement in terms of widening my knowledge, spirituality and fitness and I'll try to write about them too.
