Sunshine Blogger Award: Getting Personal

I was nominated by Roch for the Sunshine Blogger Award which works like a chain letter in a blogging sort of way.

Since I have a difficult time of opening up, I thought this is a great opportunity to share something.

What is Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is a way for bloggers to get to know each other and also get other bloggers link to their site. This award creates the opportunity for bloggers to share about themselves given the following rules:
1. Post a picture of the Sunshine Award

2. Link back to the blogger who nominated you
3. Share 11 random facts about yourself
4. Answer questions posted by the blogger who nominated you
5. Nominate 11 bloggers (no tag backs) and let them know about your post
6. Write 11 questions for your nominated bloggers

11 Random Facts About Me:
  1. I was rebellious as a child raised in a conservative Chinese-Catholic family.  But as I grew up, I realized that my family teachings and traditions made more sense.  My whole life philosophy (which my family has thought me) is centered on balance and karma.  I'll always feel grateful for what I have.  And for everything I receive, I try to give more back or pay more forward.  (It's an endless cycle)  I try to waste less time and resource so I can devote more for others.  I find it more fulfilling to work hard and earn what I gain and take only what I deserve.  My desire to give prevents me from being bored, keeps me challenged and grants me the strength, motivation and inspiration to continuously learn and develop more skills so I can be more efficient.  The same principle also applies to everything including how I distribute my time, the way I eat etc.
  2. I used to collect a lot of things when I was younger: stickers, stationaries and other things but quickly became uninterested before it gets big enough to be proud of.  So now, the only thing I collect are memories which I place on my blogs and so far so good.
  3. I'm a workaholic.  I have to be busy otherwise I'd feel inefficient when my mind or body is idle. I have this big desire to help others as a way to pay forward my gratefulness to God for giving me a chance to live. I'm very impatient... I can't even stand walking slowly and wasting time.  That's how OC I am!
  4. I am an observer who is interested in everything around me.  Whenever I go out, I notice everything.  New places, trends, shops or anything excites me.  I take everything as a learning experience.  I even learn from the TV shows and movies I watch.  I don't think my curiosity ever stops.  My mind wanders off endlessly.  My favorite subjects are people and how they deal with life.
  5. I'm very frugal.  I've always been reluctant to ask my parents for money since I was young so I earn them in whatever ways I can come up with.  Ever since, I'm accustomed to challenging myself with being appreciative in simple things and being as frugal as I can.  Plus, my Chinese-Ilocano family are also the best example for frugality and simplicity.  I'm so thrifty that I don't mind waiting in lines if time allows just so I can save.
  6. I'm not afraid of being single for the rest of my life.  My mom believes that having a child is our legacy or purpose in life because a part of you remains on Earth when you die.  But, I don't subscribed to that.  I believe there are many kinds of purpose in life.  I'll be happy and make do with whatever comes my way.  But, I do believe in love.  I just don't believe that love and marriage necessarily goes hand in hand.  Too many things are temporary or too good to last in this world to be assured of forever.
  7. I don't have any vices.  I don't drink, don't smoke or gamble.  I used to be addicted to online games though but I quit after realizing how much time is wasted on it.
  8. I have a low EQ.  I'm brutally blunt and honest.  I can't lie and I'm miserably transparent.  Perhaps, that's something I strive to improve for as long as I live.
  9. I love my family, pets, friends and everything else.  I look up to almost everyone and I'm very appreciative of everything.  I feel happy and lucky to be alive but I'm not so afraid to let it go when the time comes.
  10. I'm not fluent in any language.  English is my mother language but my grammar sucks.  My Filipino is even worse.  And, let's not even talk about my Chinese diction...
  11. I'm very introverted.  On one side, I enjoy socializing and having conversations which I can learn from.  But on the other, it tires me out and leaves me drained.  I need my alone and independent time every once in awhile.  It was only after college that I was able break my wallflower record.  I still enjoy the company of a fewer close friends more than many acquaintances.  But, I'll always have this geeky side of me that will always yearn for deep and logical conversations.
