Stress seems inevitable when you live in the Metro.  Before your work can even begin, you have to deal with the heavy traffic.  After a hard day's work, you'll have to go through another rush hour traffic which can even be aggravated by sudden rains and floods.  But, though life may seem a bit tiring, we do have access to great ways of rejuvenation.  My secret haven for heavenly solitude and relief is Baan Khun Thai House of Thai Massage at Edsa Extension.

Serenity and Comfort

My Foot Wash
The facilities are state of the art, new and very clean.

After my foot wash, I entered their dim but artistically and sufficiently lit massage area where the beautiful ensembles and fragrant mist instantly sent me to a tranquil and relaxed mood.

We passed by their foot spa area equipped with large leather couches.

I never imagined the place to be so spacious given its humble facade.  Each room was already prepared and ready to be occupied.

Swedish Massage Rooms
I was told that they had two kinds of rooms: Swedish Massage Rooms and Thai Massage Rooms.

Thai Massage Room

This was the room assigned for my Thai Head, Back and Shoulder Massage (300 php).

As soon as I was ready, my therapist entered the room and asked politely for my preferred pressure.  As usual, I choose "hard".  And, she began skillfully and artfully applying pressure to my back.  It wasn't long before I found myself succumbing in her rhythmic finger pressing.  I could feel heat and energy circulating all over my body as if it was light and free.  The melodic sounds echoed as my mind was transported in a deep subliminal state.  The pain I had on my back from long hours in front of the computer melted and wallowed away.  Soon, the rest of my body was yearning for the same relief.  Such desire was more than satisfied as the session ended with timely precision.  I was in such a bliss that it took a while for my mind and body to register that I have to come back to reality.

My therapist asked if I wanted just water or tea.  As I chose tea, I was told that my tea is waiting outside.  There are three choices for tea: Rice Green Tea, Ceylon Tea and Peppermint Tea.  I personally found the latter quite complementary for my massage experience as it was cool and refreshing.

Banzai The Great Teppanyaki Theatre: Roast Beef, Teppanyaki and More in SM MOA (Mall of Asia)

There's a new buffet in town and this time, it's not about quantity but quality.  Yes, Banzai The Great Teppanyaki Theatre opens in SM MOA San Miguel by the Bay just beside Buffet 101 to offer its quality authentic Japanese dishes and more.

By more, it has a Teppanyaki Show that showcase their skillfulness by juggling eggs, knife and other utensils, Japanese Dancers surround the stage and there's a Trick Art Gallery where you can wear Ninja, Naruto, Sumo wrestler and kimono costumes with their fun and playful painted wall backgrounds so there's no other restaurant like it.

It's a real bold move by Marvin Agustin and partner Ricky Laudico to open a large-scale Japanese buffet restaurant like this but I bet their experience in the Japanese restaurant industry has rendered them the most suitable for this kind venture.

It offers a wide range of fresh sashimi and sushi selection prepared by their Japanese chef.

I recommend you to try their fresh Salmon Sashimi and Banzai Maki.

For extra carbs, they have a pastry section.

There are lots of Japanese Salads available.  I suggest the Wakame Salad and Spicy Tuna Salad.

There are some simple but healthy ones if that's what you prefer.

You can even make your own salad.

If you want Cold Soba, they have that.

The Cold Cuts Station isn't really Japanese but be glad it's there so you can devour the Peking Duck!

So here's what I got for starters.  Everything is good in this plate.

They're the only buffet I've seen with a Takoyaki Station.  It's good to try but don't expect it to be extraordinary.

The Japanese pizza are thin-crust and crunchy so if you love pizza, give it a go.

The Gyozas are very good!  Try the Chicken or Beef Gyoza for a change.

Yakitori Station
For Yakitori, the Chicken Teriyaki is a must try!  All your classic yaki favorites are there too.

Miso Ramen
They also offer the basic ramens: Shio, Shoyu, Miso and Tantanmen.  According to their Japanese ramen chef, Miso and Tantamen are his specialty.  My Miso Ramen broth and ingredient variety does not disappoint.  The noodles are ordinary though.

Wagyu Roast Beef
This is the best roast beef I've ever encountered!  Insist to have a thick slice of this and have it cooked medium to fully appreciate this.

banzai the great teppanyaki theatre
They have a wide variety for Teppanyaki so choose wisely (by worth or preference hehe)!  They have Okonomiyaki there too.

The Salmon and Oysters are my favorite.   Don't forget to try them with the sauces if you find them bland.

The Beef Misono is so tender and tasty!  Try that too.

banzai the great teppanyaki theatre
There are also lots of other cooked dishes like Steamed Lapu-Lapu.

My Dessert Plate
There are a lot of dessert choice but my picks are the Mango Mousse and Creme Brulee.  The Avocado Mousse was already bittterish.

Bread Pudding

Snow cones are perfect for the summer!

My Metro Manila Malls Christmas Attraction Collection

Merry Christmas everyone!  It's finally Christmas day.  Every year, I always have the fortunate opportunity to give gifts to loved ones and I take that as a challenge of finding the best meaningful gifts around.

During my search, I have been through many malls and have taken notice of their Christmas attractions to share them with you.

City Place Square
One of my favorite malls is City Place Square Shopping Center located in between 168 Mall and 999 Mall.  It offers the best bargains and it is not as crowded as its neighboring malls.
City Place has a simple Christmas attraction were kids can have their pictures taken with the Chinese Santa Claus.  This Santa is wearing red Santa costume with chinese characters in it.  This chinky-eyed Santa is very generous.  Based on our observation, he gives of a bag of treats to every child that approaches him.  It contains candies and cookies.

Harrison Plaza
This tall Christmas tree is found in Harrison Plaza.  Though simple, its size makes it a perfect center piece for the mall.

Robinson's Place Midtown
This tall Christmas tree with blue lights and ribbons can be found at Robinson's midtown atrium.
At the bottom of the Christmas tree is a Santa Claus and a chair where you can sit on while taking a photo with Santa.

Shangrila Plaza
It's a sweet and delicious Christmas at Shangrila Plaza.  I loved the creativity of their decor.  It was very colorful and nostalgic.  It reminds me of my childhood Christmas when I used to wake up with my Christmas socks filled with candies.

As a consequence of my last minute Christmas shopping, I had to wait two hours just for gift wrapping at Rustan's.  So, I decided to spend the time waiting listening to the Christmas orchestra instead.  It's so fortunate that there was a FREE orchestra at Shangrila Plaza grand atrium.

SM Megamall
SM Megamall has a wonderful decor at its Atrium.  It's Santa and his reindeers on their way up to deliver gifts.

As one of their Christmas activities, they have a story telling session for kids.

SM Mall of Asia
SM Mall of Asia's Christmas village is still the most interactive Christmas attraction I've seen.

Care to share where did you shop and what Christmas attractions did you like the most too?

Well, I got to go and spend some quality Christmas dinner time with family and relatives.  Merry Christmas!!!
